How gold is priced in other currencies

Gold trades worldwide in US dollars. Its price in another currency is the dollar price converted at the live exchange rate: gold in euros is XAU/USD divided by EUR/USD, and gold in yen is XAU/USD times USD/JPY. Forex brokers outside the US quote some of these directly, as pairs like XAU/EUR or XAU/JPY. See what XAU/USD means.

Why gold moves differently in each currency

On a day the dollar weakens, gold usually rises in dollars, but can be flat or even down in euros, because the euro rose too. Over years, gold has often risen most in currencies that lost the most value. For savers outside the US, the gold price in their own currency is the one that matters.

Questions

What is the gold price per gram in yuan or rupees?

In the table, per gram. Local prices in China and India also include import duties, taxes and dealer margins, so shops charge more than this.

Almost. CNH is the yuan traded outside mainland China, and it tracks the onshore rate (CNY) closely.
