How the simulator works
- Live prices. Prices come from the LemonTrades desk and update every minute. Oil and the stock indices are futures prices, delayed about 10 minutes.
- Real costs. You buy a little above the market price and sell a little below it, like a broker’s spread, so every trade starts slightly negative.
- Leverage and margin. Leverage lets you control a bigger position with less money. The money set aside is your margin. If losses eat your equity down to half the margin you’re using, every position is closed, as a broker would.
- Stops and targets are checked every time prices update. A fast market can close you past your stop, just as it can in real trading.
- Market hours. You can only open trades while a market is open. Gold, forex, oil and the indices trade from Sunday evening to Friday afternoon (New York time); Bitcoin trades all the time.
- Private. Your account is saved in this browser only. Nothing is sent to us.
How to practice well
- Trade the size you would for real. Practicing with a $10,000 account but sizing like it’s $1,000,000 teaches bad habits.
- Set a stop on every trade and risk a small, fixed share of the account, like 1%.
- Write down why you took each trade, then compare it with what happened.
- Watch the news. Prices jump on data releases like CPI and the jobs report; check the economic calendar before you trade.
- Judge yourself over 30 or more trades, not one. The history above keeps your win rate and total.
What a simulator can’t teach you
Real money feels different. Fear and greed are hard to practice, and real brokers have slippage, wider spreads around news, overnight fees and requotes that a simulator only approximates. When you’re ready, start small, and read how to choose a broker first.
Questions
Is this trade simulator free?
Yes. There’s nothing to sign up for or download, and the money is virtual, so you can’t lose anything.
Are the prices real?
Yes. They’re the same live prices the LemonTrades desk uses, updated every minute. Oil and the stock indices are futures prices, delayed about 10 minutes.
Can I practice forex and gold here?
Yes: EUR/USD, GBP/USD, USD/JPY, gold and silver, plus Brent and WTI oil, the S&P 500, the Nasdaq 100 and Bitcoin.
Where is my account saved?
In your browser. Clearing your browser’s site data, or switching devices, starts a fresh account. Use Reset to start over any time.
How is this different from a broker’s demo account?
A demo account practices one broker’s platform. This one teaches the basics, with costs and rules explained in plain English, and no account to open.
Practicing is the time to learn what moves markets. LemonTrades tells you what moved them, and why, as it happens: breaking news, calendar warnings and a morning brief. Try LemonTrades free for 3 days, no card needed.
Market news and analysis, not financial advice. AI can misread a headline, so check the source before acting on anything important. Prices and news may be delayed.
