Has Palantir ever split?
No. Palantir went public through a direct listing on the NYSE on September 30, 2020, with a $10 reference price, and moved its listing to the Nasdaq in November 2024. Its share count has grown from stock given to employees, but never from a split.
Why companies split, and whether Palantir needs to
- To make the price feel affordable, which matters less now that most brokers sell fractional shares.
- To give employees stock in round numbers. Palantir pays its staff heavily in stock.
- For the Dow, which is weighted by price. Palantir isn’t in it.
