→ Neutral Confidence low · 4:39 PM ET

Neutral. Gulf tensions support haven demand, but Russia's offer of peace talks and sliding Treasuries offset it. Gold sits mid-range.

  • 4,156.78 prior day high
  • 4,111.99 prior day low
  • 4,104.18 overnight low
  • 4,202.28 5-day high

What would flip it: A clear Gulf escalation would tilt the bias bullish toward 4,202.28. · Concrete Russia-Ukraine talks progress could push gold below 4,104.18.

What the big banks forecast

Banks publish gold targets all the time, and change them often. In 2026, several put gold around $5,400 an ounce by the end of 2027, well above today’s price, after it set a record near $5,590 in January 2026. Treat these as opinions built on assumptions about rates and the dollar, not promises. We track them, with dates, in gold price forecast 2027.

What would move them

  • Higher: falling real interest rates, a weaker dollar, Fed rate cuts, steady central bank buying, a geopolitical shock. For silver, also strong solar and electronics demand.
  • Lower: rising yields, a stronger dollar, a hawkish Fed, calmer markets. For silver, also a slowing global economy.

Silver usually moves the same way as gold, but further. More in the silver outlook, why gold goes up and how high gold could go.

What is the gold/silver ratio telling me?

How many ounces of silver buy one ounce of gold. Traders watch it for moments when one metal looks stretched against the other.
