The IPO and since
- June 11, 2026: priced at $135 a share, valuing SpaceX at about $1.77 trillion. It raised about $75 billion, and about $86 billion with the extra shares sold to underwriters: the largest IPO ever.
- June 12: its first day on the Nasdaq, closing at about $161, up 19%, for a value of about $2.1 trillion.
- The week after: a peak near $211.
- July: below the IPO price, after a $20 billion bond sale (later raised to $25 billion) and worries about locked-up shares coming to market.
- Indexes: in the Nasdaq-100 after 15 trading days under a new fast-entry rule, but not the S&P 500, which requires profits; SpaceX lost $4.94 billion in 2025.
The lockups
Most pre-IPO investors agreed not to sell for 180 days, until December 2026, with some shares released early after quarterly results; Elon Musk and other insiders are locked up for 366 days, until June 2027. Lockup expirations add shares to the market and often weigh on a new stock. Where it could go from here: SpaceX stock price prediction 2030.
